UHB Charity celebrates continued support from SACA!

Sikh Arts and Cultural Association (SACA) has been kindly supporting UHB Charity for years and 2020 is no different!

Over the years SACA has raised a whopping £120,000, supporting projects at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital which help children and their families. In 2015 SACA organised several large fundraising events raising an incredible £71,173.26 to refurbish QEHB’s Radiotherapy Unit in order to make it more child-friendly for our younger patients. They didn’t stop there and in 2016 raised a further £50,000 towards creating a ‘home away from home’ for the families of children with cancer to stay in whilst their child receives treatment.

This year SACA unfortunately had to cancel their annual cycle ride which in the past saw hundreds of supporters cycle 126 miles from Birmingham to Southall. Due to Covid-19 SACA took their ride partially online this year, with another small group participating in a physical ride that took them past Buckingham Palace! Altogether they have raised an incredible £1,000 in support of our Covid-19 Emergency Appeal which helped us to fund invaluable bereavement boxes for families.

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at UHB Charity, said: “This is the first ride SACA has had to cancel in 35 years and we are immensely grateful for their continued support and the difference their support has made to children receiving treatment and their families. We hope that next year can be better than ever!”
