QE Staff member to hold fundraising event for QEHB Charity’s Liver Foundation

Michelle Scandrett, a 46-year-old Applications System Support Officer at the QE, has organised a fundraising event for QEHB Charity’s Liver Foundation, taking place on the evening of Friday, 12th February. She has been working in the trust for thirty years.

Michelle was diagnosed with fatty liver disease in September 2014, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and F3 Fibrosis in March 2015, and Gilberts Syndrome in May 2015.

The mother of three is treated at the QE’s Liver Unit, and the incredibly high standard of treatment she receives is why she has decided to organise a fundraising event: “I feel I need to give something back following their care of me.”

The event is going to be a Charity Cabaret evening, taking place at the Quarry Sports and Social Club on Friday, 12th February from 7:30pm.

The money raised will be going toward the purchase of a new Fibroscan machine, which allows consultants see and read the elasticity measurement in the liver.

As well as holding the Cabaret evening, Michelle is going to be holding an auction page on Facebook. The auction contains the following lots:

  • Man United Signed football 2015/2016 squad
  • Coventry City FC tickets
  • Stoke City FC tickets
  • Glass chess set
  • Glee Club tickets
  • Plough in Harborne Voucher
  • Sex in The City Sensations 6 piece gift set
  • Wolves signed pennant
  • DJ for a night for any venue in Birmingham

Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from Maria Round at Maria.Round@uhb.nhs.uk, Quarry Sports & Social Club on 0121 475 1032, or Michelle herself at Michelle.Scandrett@uhb.nhs.uk.

QEHB Charity wishes Michelle the best of luck with her event.
